CITY
FOR THE CULTURES OF PEACE
THE
DYNAMICS OF CREATIVITY IN THE SERVICE OF PEACE
WHO
ARE WE? Our Objectives:
The City for the Cultures of Peace
is an
international, interdisciplinary research network founded by a group
of scholars, scientists, and artists as a response to the violence
and wars overshadowing the twentieth century and the start of the
new millennium. Through cultural and academic activities, its
members work to build
bridges between different cultures and to contribute to conflict resolution by studying the
political, social, economic, and cultural dimensions of peace as
well as the forces which endanger it: violent nationalism, racism,
and fanaticism. Since the inception of this research
network
over a decade ago, its teams have
implemented interdisciplinary
research and training programs, cultural activities, and social
initiatives in many different
countries, focusing on five goal
areas: peace studies and conflict prevention;
marginalization and exclusion; genocide studies; interdisciplinarity;
children and youth at risk.
